For this project, I created an illustration inspired by Caravaggio’s Boy with a Basket of Fruit. I wanted to compose a narrative for the boy in the painting and decided to show him collecting fruit from a market before his portrait was captured. Specific elements like colors, the fruits and foliage, clothing, and patterns were pulled directly from the source painting. Additionally, I was fortunate enough to travel to Rome to see this painting in person and used my trip to Italy as inspiration as well. Done completely in Adobe Illustrator. Fall 2026.
